This is my reference photo, a very familiar place to me . I took it last week.
I used this picture this morning to study colors, especially thinking each step with warm and cold relationship. My palette was a warm and a cold yellow and yellow ochre, alizarin, burnt sienna, cobalt and ultramarine, plus viridian which is not an usual color for me but which happened to be very interesting .

1st sketch oil 6x8 in
Another sketch a bit later, still cloudy. I put an orange underpainting for the first sketch , but let the second paper white . I wanted to see the difference and besides light had changed a lot
2nd sketch oil 6x8 in
I bought a "new" vintage tripod in a garage sale, it just works really good.Good quality, light and very steady. Ready for lots of summer paintings !

A little typical village from south France. I was driving near there, it was windy and quite cold, I decided to paint from the car, it was quite comfortable actually

last page in my sketchbook. I find it interesting to draw directly with a brush and not the pencil anymore.
In this sketch the cat is lying on my knee twisting her head , nice curves!
This one was done in charcoal while the cat was playing with her tail on the bed. Challenge was to get an idea of the gesture
