Babouches

Coming back from an exhibition of Benjamin Constant. He studied painting in Toulouse when he was young , before he moved to Paris. There are several of his work in Toulouse but a special and fabulous exhibition is taking place at the moment. It's focusing on his oriental paintings. I took a  lot of pictures and choose a detail from " Prisonniers marocains" as a reference to paint my own moroccan slippers. It was a great help for the color scheme especially.

My settings:

    Benjamin Constant "prisonniers marocains"1875 (detail)

   Benjamin Constant (detail)

Cats ( Steinlen approach)

When I saw my two cats holding this pose yesterday ,it really reminded me Steinlen's paintings. You see with my reference picture how much I simplified the subject

Sun goddess

A nice little study of a statuette nearly real size. It actually appears to me being a sun goddess when I finish the painting. I think I 'll keep the subject for a finer work
